The highly anticipated movie Kalki, the Hindu Messiah, has recently made waves at the box office with the release of Prabhas’s magnum opus, “Kalki 2898 AD.” On Thursday, the epic sci-fi fantasy starring veteran Tamil actor Kamal Haasan, Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, and Telugu blockbuster Prabhas released in theatres across the world.
Nag Ashwin directed Kalki is set in a dystopian future but practically all of the main characters have Hindu scriptures as their source. In the teaser, Ashwin gave no clues as to who the predicted Kalki was. Fans are now wondering if the film will depict the coming of the prophesied Messiah.
Kalki movie plot
The only known city is the desertified metropolis of Kalki 2898 AD. It was managed by an elite totalitarian group headed by the god monarch Supreme Yaskin from an upside-down pyramid-shaped megastructure. The movie’s plot takes place in a dystopian society and ancient Indian Hindu mythology, spanning millennia, from the events of the Mahabharata in 3102 BC (the start of the Kali Yuga) to 2898 AD. The story’s central theme is the appearance of the mysterious Kalki, the Hindu god Vishnu’s tenth and last form.

The storyline and characters are drawn from the Mahabharata. Before its present title was disclosed, the movie went by the enigmatic and original title Project K.
Starring in Kalki 2898 AD are Prabhas, Disha Patani, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone. Deepika will be viewed as Sumati, a mother again, following Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra two years ago and Atlee’s Jawan last year. Prabhas plays Bhairava, a lighthearted, contemporary hero. This time, she portrays the mother of an unborn child that the evil forces intend to destroy because it is said to be Kalki, Lord Vishnu’s tenth incarnation.
Ashwatthama (Amitabh), who appears to have drawn inspiration from the Mahabharata’s immortal Ashwatthama, guards the unborn kid. Because of the diamond that is set on his forehead, he has lived through many ages. A younger, de-aged version of Amitabh is also shown in a flashback scene in the trailer. In the clip, he may also be seen engaging in intense action.
In Kalki 2898 AD, Kamal Haasan plays Yaskin, the presumed major antagonist who seeks to murder Sumati’s unborn kid since the infant may hold the key to defeating the Kalyug he has created. Disha Patani will play the bounty hunter, Roxie, while Keerthy Suresh has been cast as Buji, a futuristic vehicle that is Bhairava’s sidekick.
